Track coins with RFID and GPS

Updated

RFID and GPS tracking shows where high-value coins are. You need the Edit coins permission.

The page has four tabs: Alerts, Reads, Readers and Settings.

Give coins an RFID tag

A reader finds a coin by its RFID tag. To set the tag:

  • On the coin page, enter the tag in RFID tag in the Codes section.
  • In a CSV import, map a column to RFID tag.

Connect a reader

Readers send their reads to CoinManagerPro through the API. API access is part of the Business and Enterprise plans. Only owners and admins can make API keys.

  1. Go to API keys and make an API key. Set Access to Read and write.
  2. Set up the reader or tracker to send its events with the key. One request can send up to 500 events. Each event needs an id that is unique for its reader. The app ignores a repeated id, so you can send a batch again after a timeout.

The Readers tab has an example request and a link to the API reference.

A reader that sends events is added for you. To add a reader by hand:

  1. On the Readers tab, click Add reader.
  2. Enter the Reader id. This is the id the device sends with each event.
  3. Enter a Name.
  4. Select the Type: Fixed reader, Handheld reader or GPS tracker.
  5. Optional: select the Warehouse and Zone of the reader.
  6. Click Save reader.

When you delete a reader, the app deletes the reads it sent. The coins keep their last sighting.

Set the alerts

On the Settings tab:

  1. Enter the value in High-value coins start at (USD). Only coins with this value or more get alerts.
  2. Turn on Alert when a coin is out of place to get an alert when a reader sees the coin away from its slot.
  3. Enter the days in Alert when no reader sees a coin for this many days.
  4. Click Save settings.

Alerts and reads

The Alerts tab shows the open and closed alerts. Click Close alert when you know where the coin is. The Reads tab shows each read, with the GPS position for a GPS tracker.
